ROMAN or BYZANTINE ERA. Gold Finger Ring. Circa 4th-6th century AD. Inner diameter 18mm, weight 5.61 gm. Decoration consists of two raised ovoid bezels flanked by coiled wire crescents and granules. The faces of the bezels appear to have been polished in antiquity, likely to remove monograms. Perhaps a marriage ring, originally with the monograms of the happy couple. Choice, wearable condition.
