INDIA. Imitating Venice. Struck Circa 1675-1850. AV Ducat (22mm, 3.00 gm). Crude figures of Doge kneeling before St. Mark, staff between; nonsense legends / Christ in glory, within mandorla surrounded by sixteen stars. Cf. Ives pl. XIV. Good VF.

A later imitation of the Venetian ducat, with a distinctly Indian flavor. The figure of Christ has been transformed into a shaven-headed, robed monk standing on a lotus.
