ROMAN ERA. Roman. Bronze Military Diploma Fragment. Time of Hadrian, 117-138 AD. Surviving dimensions 35x50mm. A bronze diploma, or "discharge papers" presented to a retiring soldier. One side with fragmentary four line inscription given the name of the emperor, the other with eight surviving lines with details of service, referring in line six to a unit of the VII Thracian.
