ROMAN ERA. Roman. Bronze Appliqué. Circa 3rd-4th century AD. Diameter 45mm. A bronze roundel, with the head of a bearded figure with round face, pug nose, animal ears and ram's horns. Who is depicted here is uncertain; the face has some of the features of Slenus, and some of a satyr. It may be a Romano-Celtic diety, similar to the chief Celtic god Cernunnos, who bore deer antlers. Rough brown and green patina. ($200)
