LUCANIA, Thourioi. Circa 350-300 BC. AR Nomos (7.82 gm, 6h). Head of Athena right, wearing Attic helmet decorated with Skylla hurling a stone, small S on neck-guard / QOURIWN, bull walking right; two dolphins in exergue. SNG ANS 1067 var. (SW above bull); cf. SNG Copenhagen 1454; HN Italy 1820; SNG Ashmolean 287 (same dies). EF, attractive light toning. Rare variety. ($2000)
