KINGS of MACEDON. Perseus. 179-168 BC. AR Tetradrachm (15.41 gm, 12h). Pella or Amphipolis mint; AY-, mintmaster. Struck circa 171-168 BC. Diademed head right / BASI-LEWS PER-SEWS, eagle standing right, wings spread, on thunderbolt; mintmaster's monogram to right, control marks above (KE(?) monogram) and between legs (F); all within oak wreath, plow below. Mamroth, Perseus 21b; AMNG III 3; SNG Alpha Bank 1133 var. (mark between legs); SNG München 1199 var. (control marks); SNG Copenhagen 1269 (same obverse die). Superb EF, small die break and patch of light encrustation on reverse. ($1000)
