DIVAE FAV-STINAE PIAE, veiled and draped bust right / MATRI CASTRORVM, S C in exergue, Faustina seated left on stool, holding eagle in outstretched right hand and cradling long sceptre in left arm; three military standards on platform before. RIC III 1711 (Marcus Aurelius) var. (Faustina holding phoenix on globe); cf. MIR 18, 49-6/19; Banti 89 var. (S C across field); BMCRE 1556 (Marcus Aurelius) var. (Faustina holding phoenix on globe); Cohen 162 var. (same). Near EF, mottled red-brown patina. Very rare with eagle. ($2000)
