Edward VI. 1547-1553. AR Shilling (6.19 gm, 7h). Fine silver issue, 1551-1553. Tower mint; mm: tun. EDWARD VI D' G' AGL' FRA' Z HIB' REX, crowned facing bust; rose to left, XII to right / POSVI DEV' ADIVTORE' MEV', coat-of-arms surmounted by cross fourchée. North 1937; SCBC 2482. Good VF, graffiti on both sides, lightly toned. ($500)
The obverse mintmark appears to be a tun engraved over a "y". The graffiti on the obverse are three slashes over the mouth of Edward, which may be a deliberate defacement.
