KINGS of PARTHIA. Artabanos IV. 80-90 AD. AR Drachm (19mm, 3.76 gm). Ekbatana mint. Diademed bust left, long rectangular beard / Arsakes I seated right on throne, holding bow; monogram below bow. Sellwood 74.6 (Artabanos III); Shore 404 (Artabanos III). Near EF.
From the Garth R. Drewry Collection.
The reattribution of the former "Unknown King" (Sellwood Type 30) to a new king, Artabanos II, has forced a renumbering of all subsequent kings named Artabanos (for a discussion of this reattribution, see Triton VII, lot 432).
