TROAS, Assus. Commodus. 177-192 AD. Æ Medallion (41mm, 42.77 gm). Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, viewed from the back / [...] KLA[...]-OLAD-A around, ASSIWN in exergue, Commodus in triumphal quadriga left, holding branch, preceeded by Roma or Victory; trophy and two captives on platform behind. Kraft pl. 88, 14c (BM), but not in BMC Troas, etc.; SNG von Aulock -; SNG Copenhagen -; A. Zograph, "Ein bronzemedaillon von Assos," ZfN 36 (1926), pg. 69. Probably the third known specimen.

Kraft, pl. 88, 14a-b notes that the obverse die used to strike this coin was also used to strike medallions for Pergamum and Mytilene, and that the Mytilene medallion uses the same reverse type as on this coin.
