SAMARIA, Caesarea Maritima. Herennius Etruscus, as Caesar. 249-251 CE. Æ 28mm (16.03 gm, 1h). Laureate and draped bust right / Boar charging right; two vexilla above. Kadman, Caesarea, 186 (incorrect obv. photo); Hendin -; SNG ANS -. VF, black patina. Rare. ($300)

The boar is the symbol of the Legio X Fretensis, transfered to Palestine at the beginning of the Jewish War of 66-70 CE. This coin type proves it was still stationed at Caesarea two centuries later.
