[Antiquities]
PREHISTORIC ERA. Thracian bone fertility figure. Circa 2nd millenium BC. Length 100mm. Flat carved female figure, with crude facial features and cross-hatching (tattoos?) on belly and legs. Hair originally shown as open-work ringlets, now broken away. A tint of green around the neck, which probably indicates this figure hung from a copper chain at one time. A few breaks, some discoloration, otherwise a nice example of a form of fertility amulet that has its origins in Stone Age times. ($1000)
