[Antiquities] GREEK. Pair of gold earrings. Circa 3rd-2nd century BC. Length 32mm, total weight 20.30 gm. Heavy gold earrings with spiral wire studs, terminals in the form of a woman's head on lotus base. Woman is diademed, with rosettes on the band, and a separately applied veil covering everything except her face. Excellent workmanship, heavy and impressive. Probably a bit of a strain to wear these to a long evening dinner party. Surfaces are a little matte from burial, some encrustation, otherwise in choice condition. Two (2) pieces in lot. ($1000)
