GREEK. Lead offering plaque. Circa 1st-3rd century AD. 60mm square. A very ornate plaque featuring representations or symbols of most of the Greco-Roman gods. On first level, eagle with stars flanking. Below pediments busts of Helios and Selene. Two horseman (dioskouroi?) flanking statue of Artemis accompanied by Nike and Athena, serpents twined around columns. Numerous representations in lower register, those recognizable include fish on offering table, wreath, man holding amphora, ram's head, cock, vase, lion and two standing figures. Interesting syncretistic religious object. Brown patina, slight bend with short crack on one edge. ($300)
