ROMAN. Bronze hand mirror? Circa 2nd-3rd century AD. Diameter 110mm, surviving length 160mm. Uncertain object, possibly a two piece hand mirror. Bronze plates with circular bodies decorated on the outside with scratch-punched rosette and vine leaf border. One piece has a volute finial with floret decoration, the other is broken off. Fragmentary stubs which may be the remains of handles. Tinned surfaces present on the one side that has been cleaned down to the metal. The other exterior and interior surfaces have not been cleaned, and have the original rough green patina. Unusual. ($300)
