PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Ptolemy VI Philometor. 180-145 BC. AR Tetradrachm (14.11 g, 12h). Paphos mint. Dated RY 12 (170/69 BC). Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, wearing aegis / Eagle standing left on thunderbolt; LIB (date) to left, star above P to left. Svoronos 1318 = Mionnet VI 270 var. (dated RY 11; Ptolemy V); SNG Copenhagen -; cf. Paphos Hoard p. 108. Good VF, small scratch in obverse field. Unpublished date for this very rare early series from Paphos. ($500)

Although originally attributed to Ptolemy V by Svoronos, the analysis of the Paphos hoard has led to the reattribution of many of these early Paphos issues to Ptolemy VI.
