[Large Lots] ROMAN IMPERIAL. Lot of one hundred forty-four countermarked Æ Asses. 1st century AD. Mostly heavily worn coins with countermarks applied at the frontier stations along the border with Germany. The majority of the countermarks are for Tiberius - TI.CA(E), TI.AV, TIB AVG, TIB, but there are examples of others - AVG, BON, CAE, C.AV, IMP, P.P, dolphin, and helmet. A good type set of western frontier countermarks. Cf. Pangerl 8-9, 18, 29, 30, 42, 54, 77, 80, 81, 90, 95-96 and variations. Average Fair to Fine. LOT SOLD AS IS, NO RETURNS.
