JULIA TITI, daughter of Titus. Augusta, 79-91 AD. AR Cistophoric Tetradrachm (11.04 g, 6h). Ephesus mint. Struck under Domitian, circa 81-82 AD. Draped bust right / Vesta seated left, holding palladium and sceptre. RIC II 231 (Domitian); RPC II 871; BMCRE 258 (Domitian); RSC 15. VF, toned, atttractive. Very rare. ($1500)

While no decisive evidence exists for the location of the mint of the cistophori during the reigns of Vespasian through Trajan, the style, legends, and, in particular, the consistent die axis point to Rome, suggesting that these coins were minted in the capital and then sent to Asia for local use.
