ALLECTUS. Romano-British Emperor, 293-296 AD. Double 'Quinarius' (5.74 g, 1h). Londinium (London) mint. Radiate and cuirassed bust right / Galley right; QL. Cf. RIC V 55; cf. Burnett, Allectus 111. Good VF. Unpublished double-weight specimen. ($300)

The VIRTVS AVG galley type is often used on quinarii of Allectus from the London mint, but is unknown on his antoniniani. The average quinarius weighs about 2.56-2.76 grams and most antoniniani weigh between 4-5 grams. Since this reverse type is employed only on quinarii, and the present coin is only slightly more than double the weight of the usual Allectus quinarius, it is plausible to suggest that this may be an unpublished denomination of Allectus, the double quinarius.
