"[Coin] struck in the seven climes, the shadow of the divine favor, the defender of the faith of Muhammad, Shah Alam Badshah;" fish right, partial AH date below / "Struck [Ban]aras Muhammadabad year 17 of his reign associated with prosperity;" lotus and 29. The existence of a mohur dated AH 1201 and the double RY 17/29 contradicts Pridmore's earlier assertion that such multiple dating occurred only on silver rupees. The die rust and scratches about the devices on the reverse of our coin suggests an old reverse die (whether that used for the known double dated mohur, or a contemporary rupee) was used to strike this heretofore unrecorded mohur.
