[Antiquities] CHINESE, Tang Dynasty. Terracotta statuette. 618-907 AD. Height 30cm. Molded reddish-colored terracotta tomb figure of a standing servant wearing peaked cloth cap, short tunic with belt and leggings. He holds a wine ewer in one hand. Figure was painted with red tunic and lips, white face and leggings. The facial features are clearly not Han Chinese, especially not the prominent nose and full beard and mustache. Probably a figure of a central Asian, sometimes even referred to as "Armenian". Some dirt adhering, slight cracks where the halves of the mold join, features are worn. ($500)
