BOIOTIA, Federal Coinage. Circa 475-450 BC. AR Obol (0.96 g). Boiotian shield / Wheel of four spokes in incuse square. Head, Boeotia p. 22; BMC p. 61, 18, pl. IX, 17; Hesperia Art, Bulletin XXI (undated), no. 47 (as Thebes). VF, even grey tone, minor porosity. Very rare. ($200)

Ex Proschowsky Collection (Bruun Rasmussen 245, 10 March 1970), lot 629 (part).

The difference between the much rarer Federal reverses with the wheel and the "theta" (q) reverses of Thebes is quite subtle. One should look for the central pellet (the wheel hub), but make sure it is not a die break.
