Ex Sotheby's London 1 October 1987, lot 794 (part) [Professor James Brindley Collection].Acorns are the staple food for pigs and if this symbol is an acorn it may refer to the well known expression "
Boiotian swine," which we owe to Pindar, a Boiotian himself. On the other hand, the symbol may not be an acorn but a miniature, stylized bunch of grapes (see BMC p. 38, 59).
