BOIOTIA, Federal Coinage. Circa 304-294 BC. AR Drachm (5.82 g). Boiotian shield decorated with caduceus along it / Amphora; pellet above, D-I across lower field; all within incuse square. BMC p. 34, 24, pl. V, 8; SNG Cop. 412 corr. (pellet not lid). Good VF, attractive medium grey tone, slight die shift on reverse. ($1000)

The pellet on the reverse of these coins, which appears mostly, but not exclusively, above the "fat amphora" reverses, is usually situated at such a distance from the lid that it is unlikely it represents the knob by which the lid is lifted.
