Closing Date: Monday, 9 January 2006.
Sold For $170. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

BOIOTIA, Thebes. Circa 425-395 BC. AR Tritetartemorion (0.62 g). Three half Boiotian shields radiating inward / Club on bow upward; (E retrograde)-Q across upper field; all within incuse concave circle. Bérend, Réflexions 33 (this coin, as a trihemitetartemorion). Near VF, surfaces heavily eroded. Apparently unique. ($150)

This unique (?) tritetartemorion is another design, contemporary to the previous lot, that was probably not as popular, hence its extreme rarity. Its flan, size of devices and weight (allowing for the loss due to corrosion) suggest it is a trihemiobol and not a trihemitetartemorion.
