BOIOTIA, Thespiai. Early-mid 4th century BC. AR Tetartemorion (0.19 g). Boiotian shield / Horizontal crescent composed of three lines, facing upward; QE(three-barred sigma) above; all within incuse circle. Head, Boeotia p. 55; Imhoof-Blumer, Boeotiens, 156; BMC 8; Traité III 364, pl. CCIV, 26. Near EF, dark grey tone, minor spots of roughness in periphery of fields. Extremely rare, one of about three known (the others in Berlin and London). ($500)
