BOIOTIA, Orchomenos. Circa 525-500 BC. AR Obol (0.93 g). Wheat grain, sprouting end upward / Large square incuse quartered perpendicularly, with additional diagonal line; one corner of the die has broken. SNG Fitzwilliam 2871; Pozzi 1381 = Pozzi (Boutin) 3199; SNG Leipzig 807. VF, struck on a large flan, well centered, some light corrosion on the field to the left of the grain, small linear die break in the centre of the reverse. ($200)
This reverse die continues the pattern of the previous lot, but the overall design is larger and the perpendicular lines become wider from the middle as they near each edge.
