BOIOTIA, Orchomenos. Circa 525-500 BC. AR Hemiobol (0.37 g). Half wheat grain, sprouting end upward / Square incuse quartered perpendicularly, with additional diagonal line; one of the resulting triangles beginning to fill in. BMC 5. VF or better, even grey tone, metal slightly porous. Attractive and extremely rare. ($500)
The earliest hemiobols of Orchomenos are very difficult to find, in any condition.
