BOIOTIA, Orchomenos. Circa 370-364 BC. Æ 14mm (2.26 g). Boiotian shield, grain ear along vertical centreline / Star of eight rays; E-P-X-O clockwise around, arrayed within alternating spaces. Head, Boeotia p. 50, pl. IV, 13 = BMC 36, pl. VIII, 16; SNG Cop. 206-207; Weber 3217. Near EF, medium brown patina. Rare. ($300)

An attempt to refine the date of this type would compare the reverse of this coin to the reverse of the unpublished tritetartemorion (lot 219 above) and suggest that this is a relatively early issue for bronze, struck a few years before the destruction of Orchomenos in 364 BC.
