BOIOTIA, Tanagra. Early-mid 4th century BC. Lot of two AR Obols. Both coins: Boiotian shield / Forepart of horse right, showing only head, neck, and front legs; T above, A before; all within incuse flat circle with curved edge. Apparently unpublished, but cf. Head, Boeotia p. 53 and Imhoof-Blumer, Münzkunde, 76 for a generic reference to all X issues. Varieties: (a) 0.72 g. On reverse: T-A turned slightly clockwise, X below horse. // (b) 0.87 g. On reverse: T-A horizontally facing right, X above horse. Both coins Near VF. Two (2) coins in lot. ($200)

Although the two x varieties in the previous lots (with the control letter to the right) seem to be fairly common, the ones in this lot (with the letter either above or below) seem to be unpublished as such.
