CALABRIA, Tarentum. Time of Pyrrhos of Epiros, circa 280-275 BC. AV Half-Stater (4.27 g, 7h). Struck circa 280 BC. Sok-, magistrate. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress / TARANTINWN, Taras driving biga right, holding trident in left hand, reins in right; SWK above. Vlasto 29 (same dies); SNG ANS 1036 (same dies); cf. SNG Copenhagen 835; HN Italy 985; SNG Lloyd 201 (same dies); Pozzi 324 (same dies); Weber 551 (same dies). Good VF, reverse struck a little softly, a couple light marks in fields. ($2000)
