[Ancient] INDIA, Guptas. Samudragupta. Circa 335-380 AD. AV Dinar (7.70 g, 12h). Standard type. Samudragupta, nimbate, standing left, holding standard and sacrificing over altar; Garuda standard behind altar / The goddess Lakshmi, nimbate, seated on throne with two legs, holding diadem and cornucopiae; tamgha to left, D to right. BMC Guptas 8; Altekar pl. II, 5; Bayana 133. Good VF, struck on broad flan, obverse a bit muddled. Scarce variety with obverse legend beginning on the left side by the altar. ($500)
