Chandragupta standing right, looking back, astride a lion which sprawls over backward as he draws his bow upon it / The goddess Lakshmi, nimbate, seated astride a rÉcumbent lion left, holding a lotus to her nose, lion's head raised in a roar. BMC Guptas p. 39; Altekar pl. VI, 8; Bayana 1168 (same dies). VF, broad flan. Rare variety, with only one example in the Bayana hoard. ($5000)
