[Early Italian and Roman Issues] ROME. 211-208 BC. AV 20 Asses (1.09 g, 8h). Sicilian mint. Bearded head of Mars right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet; XX (mark of value) behind / Eagle standing right on thunderbolt, wings spread; grain ear to left, ROMA below. Crawford 72/2; Sydenham 234; Kestner -; cf. BMCRR pg. 163; Bahrfeldt 6b. VF/EF, obverse scuff on visor and cheek, traces of reddish deposits. Very rare. ($2000)

The ear of grain symbol on the reverse probably indicates a mint in Sicily, perhaps even the newly-conquered Roman Syracuse.
