JULIA DOMNA. Augusta, 193-217 AD. Æ 30mm (15.14 g, 1h). Pautalia in Thrace mint. IOVLIA DO-MNA CEBA, draped bust right / OVLPIAC PAVTALIAC, the Charitae (Graces) dancing arm-in-arm: Aglaea and Thalia seen from front, each holding an urn from which water flows, Euphrosyne seen from behind. Ruzicka, Pautalia -; Mouchmov -; BMC -; SNG Copenhagen -; cf. Varbanov 3183 = Staal 18.1.1 = Classical Numismatic Group 47 (16 September 1998), lot 863. Good VF, green patina with traces of red on obverse, small areas of smoothing in fields. An unpublished variety of an extremely rare type for Julia Domna from this city. ($1000)
