MHP QU, facing bust of the Virgin Mary (not orans) / LLC, crowned facing bust of Alexius, holding labarum and globus cruciger. DOC IV 44; SB 1934. VF, dark green patina, nice sharp strike. Rare. The attribution of this provincial remains uncertain. Site finds have supported the attribution to Cyprus, but as DOC IV p. 200, n. 57 points out, examples are known overstruck by later Thessalonican types.
