This medallic piastra and the half piastra in the previous lot mark the signing of the Treaty of Ryswick, which ended the War of the Grand Alliance, a nine year conflict to block the expansionist Louis XIV of France, confronted by the combined forces of England, the Lowlands, the Holy Roman Empire, Spain and Sweden.
