KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.06 g, 7h). Uncertain mint in the east. Struck circa 325-300 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, monogram in circle. Price 4006. Good VF, graffito (’b’) in field on reverse.

The monogram on this issue is similar to those found on the Alexandrine issues from the mint of Tyre. With the appearance of a Phoenician letter as a graffito on the reverse, this issue can probably be placed at an uncertain mint in Phoenicia.
