KINGS of PONTOS. Mithradates VI Eupator. Circa 120-63 BC. AV Stater (8.23 g, 12h). First Mithradatic War issue. Istros mint. Struck in the name of Lysimachos of Thrace, circa 88-86 BC. Diademed head of deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left; DI to inner left, IS below throne, ornamented trident in exergue. Callataÿ p. 139 (D1/R1); SNG Copenhagen 1094; AMNG I 482. EF, a couple toned spots on obverse. Only one die pair recorded for this type from Istros.
