PHOENICIA, Tripolis. 2nd century BC. AR Drachm (3.47 g, 12h). Dated CY 3 (circa 103/2 BC). Turreted and veiled head of Tyche right / The Dioskouroi riding right; behind,
G (date) above monogram (H surmounting Z). Cf. BMC 3 (year 3 tetradrachm); cf. SNG Copenhagen 270 (same). Near EF, toned, minor pitting under tone. Extremely rare, possibly unique.
The beginning date of the local era at Tripolis is uncertain but is thought to be around 105/4 BC. There are no published drachms from this dated Hellenistic series at Tripolis in any of the major collections.
