UNCERTAIN EAST. Early 4th century BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.80 g, 5h). Imitating Athens. Helmeted head of Athena right / Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig and crescent behind; all within incuse square. Unpublished. Good VF, light cleaning marks. Exceptional early imitation.
Ex Malter LXIX (3 June 1996), lot 184.
The high quality of this imitation, as well as its fabric, suggest a mint in either Phoenicia or Philisto-Arabia.
