UNCERTAIN. 5th-4th century BC. AR Ingot (17.09 g). Approximately the weight of an Attic tetradrachm.
First introduced in the later sixth century BC, the Athenian 'owl' coinage quickly came to dominate trade in the Mediterranean, resulting in the Athenian weight standard becoming the basis of international commerce. This particular ingot, therefore, could be from any number of areas throughout the eastern Mediterranean that had adopted this standard.
