In addition to this issue, Cephalion also struck a smaller denomination honoring Gaius and Lucius Caesars as Augustus’ chosen heirs (RPC I 2363). Gaius was not officially recognized as heir presumptive until he became consul in 1 BC, and Lucius was also recognized at about the same time but unexpectedly died in AD 2. Assuming that our coin is part of the same issue, it should also have been struck during that brief time period.
