Constantine VII, Porphyrogenitus, with Romanus II. 913-959. AV Solidus (4.39 g, 6h). Uncertain local issue. Facing bust of Christ, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels; nimbus with •• in cross arms / Crowned facing busts of Constantine VII, wearing short beard and loros, and Romanus II, beardless and draped, each wearing crown topped with cross, holding patriarchal cross between them. Cf. DOC III 15.28; BN 24; SB 1751; Sotheby’s (2 November 1998), lot 487 (same dies). VF, partial soft strike at edge of obverse. Rare and noteworthy.
