Basil II, Bulgaroktonos, with Constantine VIII. 976-1025. AV Histamenon Nomisma (4.42 g, 6h). Constantinople mint. Struck circa AD 977-989. Facing bust of Christ, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels; nimbus with • over – in cross arms / Crowned facing busts of Basil, wearing short beard and loros, and Constantine, beardless and draped, each wearing crown topped with cross, holding patriarchal cross, with triangle on shaft, between them. DOC III 2g; SB 1796. Near EF, minor flan flaw in nimbus, hairline die break across reverse.
