Alexius I, Comnenus. 1081-1118. AR Histamenon Nomisma (3.97 g, 6h). Thessalonica mint. Struck 1081-1087. Facing bust of Christ, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels; nimbus with seriffed cross arms, • in cross arms / St. Demetrius, hand on hilt, and Alexius, crowned and wearing loros, standing facing, holding patriarchal cross set on globe on two steps between them. DOC IV 5a; SB 1905. VF, lightly toned, obverse struck with worn die, minor flan flaw on obverse. Rare.
