ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of All England. Edward the Confessor. 1042-1066. AR Penny (0.69 g, 6h). Scandanavian(?) imitation of radiate/trefoil quadrilateral types. York mint signature. RIFIVD|-ICIEII+DI, radiate bust left / +(TF)LCFNC ON EOFER\, quadrilateral, with trefoils on corners, on voided short cross. Unpublished in the standard references; for prototypes: cf. North 816/817; cf. SCBC 1173/1174. Good VF, toned, light surface porosity, striking crack near center.
