PLANTAGENET. Edward III. 1327-1377. AV Noble (7.63 g, 12h). Pre-treaty period, series G. London mint. Struck circa 1356-1361. King standing facing, holding sword and shield, in ship; annulet stops, ornaments -11-11-, ropes 3/1, quatrefoils 3/4, lis 5/3, no REX in legend / Ornate cross with lis at ends and E in center; crowned lions in quarters, i.m. cross 3, tiny lis in second quarter, annulet stops. Lawrence AU/2; Schneider 40 (same dies); North 1179; SCBC 1490. Near EF, light marks around edge. Very rare variety without REX in legend.
