STUART. Charles I. 1625-1649. AR Gilt Royalist Badge (14.36 g, 12h). Declaration of Parliament issue. Thomas Rawlins, engraver. Struck 1642. “Should hear both houses of parliament for true religion and subiects freedom stand”, Crowned bust right, wearing Badge and Order of the Garter within oval frame bordered by rose-and-laurel wreath / Both Houses of Parliament: Lords above with King; Commons below with Speaker. Hawkins p. 292, 108 and pl. XXVI, 5; SCA 8, 375; Eimer 139. VF, toned, minor trace of gilding remains, includes modern chain for wearing. Extremely rare with fewer than seven specimens known.
