[Jewelry and Ornaments] ROMAN. Gold finger ring. Circa 3rd-4th century AD. Inner diameter 21mm, total weight 6.75 g. Thin gold band decorated with rouletting, the thick bezel with a surrounding double band of applied beads and two flanking globules. The inset gemstone is a bright red garnet, engraved with an eagle plucking the entrails of a hare placed upon a low altar. Good condition, face of stone lightly worn, a few beads missing. A quality piece of ancient jewelry.
